BOARD STATEMENT ON SHORT TERM RENTALS
On September 12, 2023 , on the subject of short term rentals, our association attorney stated in writing that: “As a general rule the terms residential use, private residence, single family home, and non-commercial have been interpreted so as to exclude short term rentals which are viewed as essentially a commercial use.” He cited Eager v Peasley, a 2017 case in Alcona County. CRVCA bylaws do state the terminology “single family dwellings & residential”. The issue of short term rentals is under review by the Board of Directors.
